Homemade Traditional Breakfast...like a local !


Good Breakfast = Good Day!

      Breakfast in the mansion is our priority! It is one of the things that we put a lot of care into, and we are very proud of it. All these years has been established as one of our strongest points, drawing off remarkable reviews from our beloved guests. In a place like that we wouldn’t be able to imagine something less than a completely homemade and mostly traditional Greek breakfast.

     Every day breakfast is prepared fresh from the lovely hostess and served on a hearty buffet whichever time you wake up, from 8:30 a.m. without a time limit, something that our visitors love and appreciate. On the table something different is offered every morning depending on the season and on the hostess imagination, based always on pure and top quality ingredients combined with carefully selected products from local producers!

    To have a full picture of how you will start your day at the guesthouse, at the breakfast table you always find:

  • Traditional bread from "Marios" local bakery in Pinakates (the village next to us) and once in a while the amazing homemade black bread of “mama Mary” with different aromatic herbs ( it has won over even the most “difficult” ones)
  • Homemade jams of different kinds, depending on the season, with the best seller being the tangerine
  • Local honey of exceptional quality
  • Fresh butter and yogurt, usually from sheep and from cow as well, from a traditional cheese place of the area
  • Warm homemade cake every day, made with so many different ingredients and in so many different ways you will not believe it
  • 100% fresh orange juice from biological oranges of the area (we would prefer not to serve at all one day, than compromise with a ready-made product)
  • Herbs picked from the mountains, most of the time from our beloved Crete, chosen carefully from uncles and granddads
  • Season fruit or chestnuts of the area, apples and “firikia” from Pelion, local kind of peaches (“lemonata”), cherries from our courtyard and whatever else you are lucky to try.

All of the above are completed and alternated daily with savory & sweet choices, from a long list of the hostess who has managed to surprise even us and which indicatively includes:

  • Delicious omelettes in different variations, scrambled eggs & imaginative egg preparations ( always fresh and local eggs)
  • Homemade savory pies of all kinds, from the classic "spanakopita", to the “lazy” cheese pie, “batzina” with zucchini etc… up to the unique “agnopites” from Crete with “xinomyzythra” cheese & ideally served with honey.
  • Homemade sweet pies of different kinds, as apple pie, peach pie, orange pie, chocolate pie etc.
  • The famous “bougatsa” with the very thin crust
  • Quality cheeses & sliced meat ("feta" cheese and “manouri” Volou, Gruyere of 12 months ripening, smoked turkey, local sausage etc)
  • Unique fruit tarts
  • Delicious “loukoumades” and alternative healthy option pancakes
  • Traditional “rizogalo”, something like rice pudding (when possible, with fresh goat milk from the village)
  • Traditional frumenty soup for the winter
  • “Ntakos” with fresh tomato, “myzithra” cheese & fresh herbs from the garden, for those who prefer light options
  • “Vasia's” fruit salads (they have their own secrets too)
  • “Surprise” yogurt dessert
  • Semolina "halva" as well as the famous "halva Papagianopoulou" from Volos, and more fasting options
